Glossier Launches Birthday Balm Dotcom
When Momofuku Milk Bar and Glossier do a collab, you know it's going to be so, so good. I opened my mail recently to find a holographic tube of the new Glossier Balm Dotcom, aptly named "Birthday," and before I even popped the cap off, I knew I had to make a cake to celebrate (any excuse, right?). Not many people know about my side-hustle, but when I'm not working full time as Marketing Manager, I'm usually working on cake orders over at Bettina Tisch Cakes.
I usually like to keep my work, personal, and side-hustle lives pretty separate, but was this just too good an opportunity to pass up. The cake itself is a six inch, three layer gluten free, vanilla confetti cake with classic vanilla buttercream: my own riff off of Momofuku's famous Birthday Cake. The finishing touch was a giant Glossier "G" in sprinkles on top, which kind of looks photoshopped in the above images, but I swear it's not! A homemade stencil and some patience can go a long way.
Now on to the actual product. The balm itself is vanilla flavored, which I have to admit, I normally steer clear of as most vanilla scented products make me want to gag. But surprisingly, I don't mind this one. I definitely won't be reaching for it over my usual Rose or Mint Balm Dotcom's, but when I'm feeling something a little extra, this will be my go-to. Speaking of extra, the biggest distinguishing factor for this balm over the other's is shimmer. I've been wondering when Glossier was planning on doing something glittery, especially since the major rise in all things from the early 2000's. This product is everything I ever wanted when I was 13, and at 25, I'm still super into it.
